It's Wedding Season!

As we turn the corner into Spring, many fairs and festivals start to fill our weekends and here in Plymouth suppliers in the wedding industry, including myself, excitedly packed up our kit to attend the Wedding Fair at Tavistock Guild Hall in Plymouth. Welcoming newly engaged couples across the city, love was in the air and I am honoured to have attended as a wedding supplier.

While a little nervous, surrounding myself with like minded, passionate individuals was simply a perfect start to the day. Independent florists from across the city of Plymouth shared stories and portfolios and the positivity filled the atmosphere. I met some lovely suppliers as well as the event organiser Daniella from Pretty and Punk weddings.

With Summer around the corner, I knew I wanted to display a bold and bright eye catching display catching the attention of each passerby. My flower display evolved into a beautiful tall display seen from all around the wedding fair and it became quite the ‘bud of the ball’!

I thoroughly enjoyed engaging with everyone who came to admire my display and discuss the variety of flowers available. Many brides admired the use of such enthusiastic colours and I look forward to using this colour pallet on some of my bookings later this year. The flowers I used in this display in particular were a mix of seasonal and unusual blooms, perfect for the bride who is seeking a bespoke wedding bouquet. Of course, given the time of year I also included some of the more classic Spring flowers such as Ranunculus and Tulips as well as the classics such as Roses, Delphiniums and Orchids to name a few.

I shared in such exciting conversations of wedding plans and events, at various venues around Plymouth, Devon and Cornwall. Each of the venues have such different spaces for flower displays for ceremonial events, and hiring an independent florist such as Daisie Chain Floral Design makes a considerable difference to how the space is utilised. As we are able to physically visit the venues we can measure the spaces and visualise the displays much better than larger companies which means each wedding display is simply perfect on the day.

I also included a scented bridal bouquet at the wedding fair, and a small personalised table top display. These are beautiful for those who enjoy further depth to their displays, engaging the sense of smell. This small bridal bouquet allowed couples to see my work and envisage the moment of walking down the aisle that they are so eagerly waiting for.

Enquirers viewed my portfolio of work, including the floristry archway I had created in Carnglaze Caverns last year, an example of how diverse my displays and skills are. I have had such different experiences as an independent florist in Plymouth, providing flowers for weddings, funerals and business events, as well as flower deliveries across Plymouth for Mothers Days, Birthdays and other celebrations.

I was pleased to have talked with so many individuals by the end of the day and additionally pleased to have solidly booked multiple weddings and further consultations with attendees from the fair.

A few questions were asked and some common questions I have answered below.

Is there a minimum spend or budget we should have?
