For as long as I can remember...

When I was a little girl, my grandparents lived in a house that can only be described as a chocolate box cottage; think thatched roof, a babbling stream and beautiful gardens. We visited on weekends and holidays, and I spent hours picking flowers, fascinated by the variety in the sea of colour that swept up the driveway. I’ve had this creative passion for flowers and design for as long as I can remember, and I have many fond memories of making cards and gifts from wood and other garden materials that I collected during my stays.

When I had a child of my own, this passion continued. My daughter discovered DC & Marvel films at a young age and was inspired by a character called 'Poison Ivy'. She loved that strong women were cast in key roles and so together, we crafted her a costume made with real Ivy! This triggered a spark in her which lead to her own passion in art & design.

Growing up, I wanted to pursue art & design as a career path but was swayed into a more realistic & reliable option and ended up working in sales for many years. I love talking to people, helping people, and the human connection side of sales, so looking back, it was a great career for me. But deep down, I always dreamed of taking a floristry qualification and pursuing that deep-rooted passion.

In 2009 I took some time away from my work due to poor health, and this gave me the time and space to invest in myself, which is when I stumbled across an advert on social media. Being poorly had given me a whole new perspective on my life and I was ready to put myself and my happiness first. I couldn’t believe the divine timing! I hit send on the application, and the rest is history.

Once I started studying professional floral design, I caught the bug and never looked back. Daisie Chain Floral Design is one year old now, and I couldn’t be more excited for the journey ahead! I feel like professional floristry is the perfect combination of both sides of my personality. On one side, it satisfies my passion for vibrant, bold and unique floral displays. On the other side, it meets my love for human connection, communication and helping people. If you’d like to arrange a telephone consultation, we can discuss your ideas, and I can make suggestions to help bring your floral dreams for your wedding or event to reality.
