How far ahead should you book your wedding flowers?

There’s a question I hear from so many couples:

“When should we book our florist?

And the answer is often simpler — and much calmer — than people expect.

Most couples tend to get in touch around 9–18 months before their wedding, especially for spring and summer dates. It’s never about rushing or being overly organised — it’s simply giving yourself a bit of breathing room while everything slowly falls into place.

If you’ve chosen your venue and have a rough sense of how you want the day to feel, you’re in the perfect place to start chatting flowers.

A calm, pressure-free beginning

When you first enquire, you don’t need a full design plan.

You don’t need exact colours, flower names, or even a clear idea of your bouquet shape. Most couples arrive with:

• a date

• a venue

• an overall mood

• a couple of inspiration photos

• or sometimes… absolutely nothing yet

And honestly, that’s perfect.

Our first step is simply a friendly conversation — a gentle chat to understand what you love, what you don’t, and how you want the day to feel. Everything else unfolds naturally.

Why booking early helps (without locking you in)

Booking early isn’t about making big decisions before you’re ready.

It’s simply giving yourself space.

It allows us to:

• explore ideas at a relaxed pace

• understand what will be seasonal for your date

• keep everything flexible

• shape your designs as the rest of your plans evolve

You’re never locked into choices you make a year or more ahead.

Your flowers can — and often do — shift gently as your wedding takes shape.

What happens after you book

Once your date is secure, everything slows down beautifully.

We check in throughout the months leading up to your day — refining your palette, understanding your venue, and shaping your flowers around how you want everything to feel. Texture, movement, atmosphere… it all comes together steadily and thoughtfully.

A few months before the wedding, we sit down together again to make sure your flowers still feel completely like “you.”

It’s steady.

And it’s meant to be enjoyable.

So… when should you book?

Here’s a simple guide:

12–18 months before

Ideal for peak-season or larger weddings.

9–12 months before

Plenty of time — most couples sit here.

6–9 months before

Still absolutely fine for many dates.

Under 6 months

Often possible depending on availability — always worth asking.

Elopements + intimate weddings

Can usually be arranged on shorter notice.

Truly, the best moment to reach out is simply when you’re ready to start imagining your flowers.
